Closed after the January 2026 fire
Raakajilm is closed to visitors until further notice while the property recovers from the January 2026 bushfire. Jesse’s Track will reopen as soon as it’s safe. Get in touch and we’ll let you know when you can visit.
Jesse's Track
Walking this track is the best introduction to Raakajilm and the Victorian Mallee. From the house it’s a 4 km round trip, including the 2.7 km Jesse’s Track loop.
Seven beautiful signs, donated by the Jesse Chaplin Burch Trust, introduce you to the treasures of the Victorian Mallee. Along the way you’ll find rare and culturally significant plants, propagated with support from the Victorian Government via Nature Fund.
Plan your walk
The track suits most ages and fitness levels. It’s well defined (just follow the Regent Parrot) but very sandy, with some short, steeper sections. Bring water and a hat, and remember it gets hot in the Mallee!
